Located in the Trastevere neighborhood, Antica Pesa Roma can be found on a historic cobblestone street: Via Garibaldi, which in the 600s was the customs post location for the Papal State where wheat taxes were collected. This explains the curious name of Antica Pesa, or Antique Scales, which was coined at the end of the nineteenth century when its original function was replaced by that of a real osteria. It all began four generations ago, when the former osteria became a full-fledged restaurant. In 1922 with the first of four generations of the Panella family, Antica Pesa began its steady evolution to becoming an established restaurant recognized worldwide for its authentic Roman cuisine.
Sala, our indoor dining room, captivates with an elegant atmosphere. With a striking fireplace surrounded by nine walls each adorned with extraordinary paintings frescoed by the work of renowned artists. These works from artists at the beginning of their careers were inspired by the special atmosphere still found today in the characteristic neighborhoods of Rome, continuing to enliven the ambiance of our main dining room to this day.
